It requires a more exploratory and interdisciplinary approach to the subject. Ethnomathematics “ethno – within a cultural environment, characteristics related to the cultural identity of a group such as language, codes, values, jargon, beliefs, food and dress, habits and physical traits”, (D’Ambrosio, 2006), mathema – explaining and understanding in order to transcend, managing and coping with reality in order to survive and thrive tics – techniques such as counting, ordering, sorting, measuring, weighing, ciphering, classifying, inferring (Rosa and Orey 2011). Since the covid-19 appeared in Indonesia at the end of February 2020, the learning process in both formal and non-formal education has drastically changed from the study at school to learning onlin This is actually a claim that is being made often these days: the sciences in general, and math in particular, are racist. The latest comes from Oregon: The Oregon Department of Education (ODE Enthnomathematics Contextualised Definition for this Rangahau Plan: According to Barton (2009) “Ethnomathematics can be regarded as the study of different fibres of mathematical knowledge.” p.107 Introduction The beauty and power of ethnomathematics is all around us at all times in all environments, whether natural or manmade. Currently, the most famous example is from the Oregon Department of Education. It advertised a February 21 “Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course” that espouses “ethnomathematics” in order to begin “dismantling racism in mathematics,” because mathematics reflects “white supremacy culture.” The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) recently encouraged teachers to register for training that encourages "ethnomathematics" and argues, among other things, that White supremacy manifests itself in the focus on finding the right answer.

Gerdes (1991) in Ethnomathematics,Culture, Mathematics, and Education presented another definition Ethnomathematics is likely controversial because it does not conform to the needs of advocates who support traditional, computational, arithmetic and algebra driven curricula (see math wars). It requires a more exploratory and interdisciplinary approach to the subject. The theoretical basis of ethnomathematics offers a valid alternative to traditional studies of history, philosophy, cognition, and pedagogical aspects of mathematics. The current agenda for ethnomathematics is to continue an ongoing, progressive trajectory that contributes to the achievement of social justice, peace, and dignity for all. ethnomathematics holds the key to linking these two ideas. Through ethnomathematics, we can help students find success in school and in life because the fundamental values of ethnomathematics include respect for the other, solidarity with the other, and cooperation with the other (D’Ambrosio, 2007).

This chapter discusses scholarly work in the field of ethnomathematics from three perspectives that seem to encompass much of the current work in the field: challenging Eurocentrism in mathematics; ethnomathematics praxis in the curriculum; and ethnomathematics as a field of research. Ethnomathematics, as a field of inquiry, began in about 1970, although the term itself did not come into use until about 10 years later. Its basic tenet is that mathematical ideas are cultural expressions embedded within cultural contexts.

This research and development aim to: (1) know the characteristics of PBL devices based on ethnomathematics.
Culturally Situated Design Tools (CSDTs) are web‐based software applications that allow students to create simulations of cultural arts—Native American beadwork, African American cornrow hairstyles, urban graffiti, and so forth—using these underlying mathematical principles. Ethnomathematics first introduced by educators and mathematicians from Brazil, Ubiratan D'Ambrosio in 1997 in a presentation to the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
